Meet the Singers

Bath Opera’s summer touring production of Così fan tutte features some of the best singers from the region in Mozart’s comic look at trust in relationships – or the lack of it…

Julia O’Connor

Soprano Julia O’Connor plays Fiordiligi, the flighty fiancée of Guglielmo who will find herself woo’d by her sister’s fiancé, Ferrando, as the plot thickens! Julia studied music at York University and later with English National Opera. She has performed leading roles including Mimi in Puccini’s La Bohème and the leading role in Janáček’s Jenufa.


Harriet Kirk

Fiordiligi’s sister Dorabella, played by mezzo soprano Harriet Kirk is the first to succumb to Guglielmo’s charms even though she is engaged to Ferrando. After studies at Guildhall School of Music & Drama, Harriet completed ENO Opera Works and has performed with Grange Park Opera and Opera Holland Park.


Andrew Havers

Gugliemo is played by bass Andrew Havers – the scheming fiancé of Fiordiligi. Andrew’s roles have included Peter Quince in Britten’s Midsummer Nights Dream and since joining Bath Opera his Mozartean roles have included Leporello in Don Giovanni and Papageno in The Magic Flute.


Rupert Drury

Tenor Rupert Drury plays Ferrando, fiancé of Dorabella, who after a few attempts has a successful flirtation with Fiordiligi. Rupert studied at Durham University and at the Royal Academy of Music.  With Bath Opera Rupert has sung principal roles in many productions including title roles in Berlioz’ Beatrice and Benedict, Britten’s Peter Grimes and most recently the role of Elvino in Bellini’s La Sonnambula.


Niall Hoskin

The old philisopher, Don Alfonso is played by bass Niall Hoskin. It is he who lays down a wager to Ferrando and Guglielmo that their fiancées are as fickle as all other women. Niall has performed with Dorset Opera and has taken title roles in Bath Opera productions including Macbeth, The Flying Dutchman, Don Giovanni and Rigoletto.


Gill Clark

The role of the maid, Despina, is key to the plot in Così fan tutte, as she tells the sisters to take new lovers while their fiancés are away. Performed by soprano Gill Clark who has played over 30 roles with Bath Opera, she is also popular as a soloist in oratorio and has performed for Shawford Opera and Operaletta.
