We all need Friends…

Bath Opera

These are clearly challenging times for the arts. Nevertheless, Bath Opera continues its plans for BOIBA later this year and its two exciting productions for 2021…

Following plans for our BOIBA competition in November 2020, we look forward to our fully staged production of Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin in early 2021 – complete with professional orchestra. In the summer of 2021 we will be touring Rossini’s wonderful comic opera The Barber of Seville.

However, many of you may have seen the open letter to the Guardian this month by Sir Simon Rattle, music director of the London Symphony Orchestra, and Sir Mark Elder, former music director of English National Opera and now music director of the Hallé Orchestra, who describe classical music’s situation as ‘desperate’.

Bath Opera has been particularly hard hit by the loss of potential income following the cancellation of our planned touring production this summer.

To help ensure Bath Opera continues to thrive as we come out of lockdown please give your support as a Friend or Patron…

For as little as 50p a week you can help Bath’s own operacompany to continue to promote interest in and access to operathrough regular performances, and foster musical education by offering young singers the opportunity to showcase and build their talent.

The vital support we receive from our Friends and Patrons means we can:

  • bring high quality opera to Bath and the surrounding area
  • present our fully staged 2021 production of Eugene Onegin with professional orchestra
  • mount our summer touring production
  • support young singers through our BOIBA initiative.

As a Friend you benefit from:

  • priority advanced booking
  • free programmes
  • opportunities to meet the company.

Join as a Friend and we will enter you into a prize draw to win one of two bottles of champagne. There are two prize draws: one on 31 March and the other on 31 July.

We look forward to welcoming you as a Friend and thank you for supporting Bath Opera, a registered charity.
